PARA TRACK & FIELD

Para Track & Field is the cornerstone of Adaptive Warrior KC. It’s where our mission comes to life — empowering athletes of all abilities to push limits, build strength, and find community through sport.

From beginners to international-level competitors, our program provides inclusive coaching, adaptive training, and competitive opportunities that help every athlete reach their potential. On the track, we celebrate movement, freedom, and determination — because every stride forward is a victory.

Practice

Never tried track and field? That’s okay!
Most of our athletes never competed in track and field growing up — and that’s exactly what makes adaptive sports so special. It’s all about trying new things, discovering your strengths, and connecting with others who share your drive to move and grow.

Our program is designed for every ability level, and our two certified USATF Level 1 coaches are here to teach you the fundamentals, help you build confidence, and make sure you have fun along the way. Whether you’re looking to compete or just get active, you’ll find your place here.

Beginners Regional Competition

Once you’ve built your skills and confidence, you’ll have the opportunity to try a regional competition — a fun and supportive way to experience the thrill of competition, meet other adaptive athletes, and celebrate how far you’ve come.

National Competition

Hit your marks, and you could earn the chance to compete at Nationals, taking your skills to the next level and representing Adaptive Warrior KC on the national stage.

International Competition

If you have the drive and dedication, some athletes go on to compete at the international level—and for a select few, the ultimate goal is the Paralympics. Adaptive Warrior KC provides the coaching, support, and opportunities to help you aim high and reach your full potential.

TBI SUPPORT GROUP

The North Kansas City TBI Support Group is a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals living with traumatic brain injuries, their families, and caregivers. Each month, participants come together to share experiences, learn from guest speakers, and engage in open discussion focused on recovery, wellness, and connection. The group emphasizes peer support, community resources, and practical tools for navigating life after brain injury in a positive and empowering environment. a touch of charm and coziness this holiday season with a wide selection of hand-picked decorations -from minimalist vases to designer furniture.

Who Comes to the NKC Group?

Great question!
The North Kansas City TBI Support Group is a new and growing community in its first year. The group was founded by Kate Hwang, who wanted to connect with others in her age group who are active, motivated, and navigating similar life experiences after a traumatic brain injury.

While the group is small, members range in age from their mid-20s to mid-40s and represent a wide range of recovery journeys and abilities. What brings everyone together is a shared commitment to healing, connection, and living life to the fullest.

Wherever you may be in that demographic, NKC Support Group welcomes you and hopes that you join us! Our meetings for the year are posted online.

ADAPTIVE PICKLEBALL: PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS

Adaptive Warrior KC is proud to host Adaptive Pickleball in partnership with Chicken N Pickle (North Kansas City and Overland Park) and our community partner MO Better.

We currently offer free adaptive pickleball play on the 1st Monday of each month in North Kansas City and the 3rd Monday in Overland Park.

Starting January 2026, based on growing interest at both locations, we’ll expand the program to include a 60-minute introductory clinic for new participants at the beginning of each session. One court will also remain open for free play, giving more advanced athletes a chance to continue developing their skills and connect with the community.

While Adaptive Warrior KC welcomes all participants, our programming is primarily designed for individuals aged 15 and older with physical disabilities.

For younger athletes or individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD), we encourage you to contact Adaptive Warrior KC or your local Chicken N Pickle location. There are additional community play sessions and partner programs available that may be better aligned with each participant’s abilities, interests, and overall enjoyment.

Quarterly Adaptive Socials

Add a touch of charm and coziness this holiday season with a wide selection of hand-picked decorations — from minimalist vases to designer furniture.

Adaptive Socials has been a corner stone of Adaptive Warrior KC as we have known that community has a fundamental of the adaptive sports community. The need for human connection and shared experiences is probably as equal to sports and exercise.

When

We have our socials quarterly, and pick a different restaurant in the Kansas City metro area. We try our best to stay close to metro lines, and or Uber/lift friendly areas. Check out the website for dates, times and place for our next social.
