WHAT IS PARA TRACK & FIELD?

Para Track & Field is an adaptive sport that allows athletes with physical, visual, or neurological impairments to compete in a variety of track and field events. It is part of the Paralympic Games and follows classification systems to ensure fair competition among athletes with different disabilities. You don’t need ANY experience to come out to play or practice! First timers welcome.
Athletes compete in events such as:
🏃♂️ Sprints & Distance Races – 100m, 200m, 400m, and longer distances
🚴♂️ Wheelchair Racing – Athletes use racing wheelchairs for high-speed track events
💪 Throws – Shot put, discus, javelin, and club throw
🦿 Jumps – Long jump and high jump, with prosthetics or other adaptive techniques
Try It • Learn It • Compete When You’re Ready!
Adaptive Warrior KC’s Para Track & Field program is designed as an introductory and developmental experience for individuals interested in learning more about adaptive and para track & field.
Our program offers a “Try It Out” and Para Track & Field 101 pathway, providing guided instruction across multiple practice sessions. Athletes will have the opportunity to explore the run/roll, throw, and jump events in a supportive, inclusive environment-whether they are brand new to the sport or returning after time away.
